Dwight Robinson

Vice President

Dwight Robinson has been married to the love of his life for more than 20 years. He is a doting father to his 3 children aged 18, 14, and 8. His faith and family are his passion in life. They are the reason for his professional pursuits. He is driven to do his part to create a world where his children will have economic opportunities as well as be able to enjoy the environmental beauty that God has blessed us all with.

Dwight has spent the last 15 years learning and sharing about his experiences as a business owner and operator as well as serving in local government.

Since 2005, he and his team have expanded the 60+ year old Los Angeles Harbor Grain Terminal (LA Grain) from 28 employees to more than 85 employees while significantly increasing revenue and output. LA Grain has since developed into the premier agricultural export transloader in the Pacific Southwest. In the mid-2000’s, Dwight and his team developed new marketing channels and grew the transload business to include the handling of many new products including non-gmo grains, DDGS, beet pulp pellets, cotton linters, soybean and corn meals, aggregate materials, petroleum by-products and many other commodities.

In 2007, Dwight developed a cross dock division becoming the first US transloader to handle alfalfa hay for the UAE market and then again a few years later became the first US transloader certified to handle alfalfa for the China market, resulting in more than 2 million tons of hay transloaded over the last decade.

In 2012, Dwight made a big move by switching his trucking operation from an owner operator model to an employee driver model. Dwight purchased a few dozen Class 8 trucks and converted them into 4 axle heavyweight permitted drayage vehicles. Additionally, he acquired a fleet of heavyweight permitted tri-axle chassis. This move has allowed his business to have more consistency from its trucking operation while providing a better working environment and benefits for drivers.

In November of 2012, Dwight was elected to the Lake Forest City Council in southern Orange County, California and he was subsequently chosen to serve as Mayor in 2014. This position has given him the opportunity to pursue his passion for public service, lead his community, and have an impact at the regional level. He has served as a Board Member and Budget and Finance Committee Member of the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), a Transportation Committee Member at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), a Board Member of the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG), a Board Member of the California Natural Gas Vehicle Partnership (CNGVP), and as a Governing Board Member of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) which is the largest Air Pollution Control District in the United States serving the 17 million residents of the Counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange. In these various positions, Dwight has been able to share his knowledge of the transportation/logistics/goods movement industry and help shape policies that balance environmental stewardship with middle class job retention and growth, which is the true economic engine of Southern California.

In 2020, Dwight will be stepping away from public office to spend more time with his young family, further strengthen and grow LA Grain, and pursue new and exciting business opportunities both in and out of the logistics industry.
